My new clothesline!

For Mother's Day this year, I got some homemade cards and a DVD. And Hubby promised he would finally put up the clothesline I have been wanting for the last two years! He had time to get the clothesline put up last Thursday - and it's been raining ever since.... sigh.

It's supposed to rain for the entire week, so it will be a few days before I get to try it out. We have a dryer, but I wanted a clothesline to save energy and money on our power bill. And, although I can't honestly say I've tried it yet, doesn't it seem like it would just be so calming to be outside hanging sheets on a sunny day?

Adam, 6, said the clothesline posts looked like a cross, and he was right. But the only thing hanging on these will be clothes and linens!

The clothesline took up the last bit of yard we had left. The space in the photo below was the only area that hadn't been taken over by gardens or chickens coops. You can see that we even put some beds along the fence line to hold strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers. One day soon I'll give you a tour of the entire yard and everything it holds.

I did have a question for those of you with clotheslines. Hubby and I both suffer from allergies, and he asked a good question. When we hang our clothes on the line, will they get covered with a fine layer of yellow pollen like the cars do?
